Salisbury,
NC – Today at the beginning of the filing period for elective
office, Dr. Ada M. Fisher presented her papers and fee as a candidate
for the North Carolina House 77th District seat at the Rowan
County Board of Elections. Her car and cards reflect a unique logo with
her last name’s F depicted as a stethoscope and accompanying her slogan,
“Get a Doctor in the House Attuned to the Heartbeats of America.”
A long time
community activist dedicated to equality of opportunity for all citizens
with an affection for helping the poor or those estranged from
opportunities, Dr. Fisher believes that the NC State House best affords
our citizens with her in this seat, a chance to address our health care
needs including improvements to public health and mental health
services; educational concerns particularly as they relate to our
burgeoning drop-out rates and higher education preparations; necessity
of preventing further economic squeezes on the middle class and property
owners by reducing our high taxes and improving our citizen services;
business supports for small and large alike while being fair to their
needs without ignoring their impact on our areas; water and
sustainability issues; need to control illegal immigration while
removing judicial injustices which impact on the ability of non-violent
criminals who have served their time to become productive citizens
through Second Chance gainful employment thereby preventing their
re-incarceration; and understanding of the need for infrastructure
repairs particularly to our roads and bridges.
Anyone who
knows Fisher knows of her desire to continue her service to Rowan
County, the state and the nation. Dr. Fisher will go all out and be
heard in fighting for the principles and values in which she believes.
For her, this campaign will be a bit different and it is hoped that the
nastiness of previous House races will be avoided for Fisher wants to
debate the incumbent in forums at Catawba College, Livingstone College
and other venues which will give the citizens an opportunity to hear and
address their issues in deciding who best represents our present as well
as future. Dr. Fisher believes the 77th NC House
District, state and nation need this type of change to civility.
In a unique
twist, Fisher has asked an advisory board of people across parties,
ethnicities and age groups to give her feedback as she continues to
serve us. Those who will be called on include but are not limited to
Mr. Mac Butner, Mr. Herbert Chambers, Mrs. Joanne Diggs, Mrs. Lynn Dula,
Mrs. Esther Marioneaux, Mr. Jamail Mauney, Mrs. Lillian Morgan, Mrs.
Susan Morris, Mrs. Yvonne Rush, ministers as well as others. Fisher not
only intends to continue in her walk, talk and hand shakes with people
but has every intention to get students at all levels involved with her
campaign demonstrating her message that we need to “Get a Doctor in
the House Attuned to the Heartbeats of America.”
