Salisbury, NC – Disturbed by the dwindling budget revenues which
see North Carolina’s surplus now at $20 million from a high of $150
million, on April 23rd Dr. Ada M. Fisher, NC House District
77 Republican Candidate signed an Americans for Tax Reform Pledge to
“oppose and vote against any and all efforts to unreasonably
increase taxes.”
Fisher
notes with interest the ads of Lt. Governor Candidate Robert Pittenger
which detail three examples of “Pork Barrel” spending by the North
Carolina legislature which unnecessarily cost taxpayers a lot. Dr.
Fisher is opposed to such spending and believes it is time to get more
efficiency into our government with elimination of programs which have
not worked, consolidation of similarly targeted programs and performance
accountability requirements for all aspects of government and its
operations.
“Important
jobs are being lost in this state and it is unreasonable to ask those
remaining employed to assume a bigger cost burden for our state
operations when they have their own families to feed. In addition, we
have needs for improved mental health programs, drop-out prevention
efforts and rising health care cost for the indigent as well as retired
state workers. If we are to meet our needs, we must be more fiscally
responsible,” says Fisher. |
